G.RAG & DIE LANDLERGSCHWISTER LP

G.RAG & DIE LANDLERGSCHWISTER – HONKY TONKIN' LP (Gutfeeling)
There's hardly any other style of music, that generate's more horrobile associations than Bavarian brass music. The new album of Munich based formation G.Rag & Die Landlergschwister (who feature Micha Acher from The Notwist) demostrates, that brass music can mean much more than love of the homeland, respect for tradition and sheer stupor. Their influences range from Mexican banda to south-european folk music. Musically they clearly cross the national borders of their Bavarian home. At the same time they push authentic Bavarian sounds into the forefront. “Honky Tonkin’” sounds like a great evening in a pub. Beer flows in streams while the band keeps on playing, but it's all fun and there's not a single second, that feels embarrassing. Think of a Bavarian version of Beirut. The eleven tracks include brilliant coversions of Caribou's “Odessa”, Bally Prell's “Föhnwind” und the theme melody of Munich's TV inspector “Monaco-Franze”. It's worth taking off the blinkers, because this album really deserves your attention! (Listen to it here)
